Good morning!
Begin your day in the Exploratorium
The Exploratorium is a blended indoor/outdoor space rich in mathematical opportunities, small machines, architectural building, writing tools, and a library.
Children participate at their own pace and learn to make choices that balance flexibility and respect for each other, rules, and organization.
The love of pretend cooking is taken to an extreme in our outdoor kitchen and restaurant.
Practice language arts, journaling, handwriting , phonics approaches.
Wild Math and Dimensions Math.
Social Emotional Learning
Relationship building is the cornerstone of our philosophy. How do we enter into play? How do we make friends? How do you express your needs? What is better for the unity of the group?
We discuss these questions as we examine our feelings and agree that our group needs participation with agreements from all members. Every voice counts!
We participate in morning assembly to share stories, sing songs, plan the day, and discuss project ideas. Children take turns presenting.
Outdoor science & Physical Activity
Our students develop many skills while gardening, taking care of our animals, hiking, and playing field games.
They study the ecology of our many habitats: pond, creek, forest, and farm with ample opportunities to observe environmental changes and animal behavior.
Weather patterns and forms of water offer endless questions to explore.
arts meet science
In our light lab, children manipulate letters, objects, and pens to look at concepts from different points of view.
The art studio is curated to offer the exploration of painting, sculpting, drawing, and modeling languages. It is the perfect place to give projects a new dimension.
Practices
Organization, language arts, journaling, and manipulation of small objects are important parts of a healthy preschool diet.
Building and practicing tools allows ideas to blossom.
Skills mastered contribute knowledge to the development of projects of interest.
Projects Rule!
Projects build up and over time with the evolution of the emergent curriculum.
Some are short, other projects last the school year or even many years.
Our Magnolias love book studies. Here their project is about creating a new version of the Hungry Caterpillar. Their plan: to create an outdoor story walk.
Afternoons
After lunch, children rest with sensorial experiences and storytelling, drawing, or reading. The sand garden is a favorite place to relax and recharge.
Following rest time, crafting, creating, and revisiting ideas they explored earlier in the day playfully prepares the children to reflect one more time.
They share rose, bud, and thorn with their group during the last assembly of the day during the dismissal and carline process.
