Our favorite response is to do what comes naturally : Play and learn outside!
We also have some procedures and rules to follow that help keep COVID-19 away:
Hand washing protocol
In addition to our sinks indoors, outdoors hand washing stations will allow us to wash hands.
As we do frequent soapy hand washing throughout the day.
We will teach elaborate hands and arms washing techniques and experiment with the science behind washing away the invisible.
Maximize outdoor comfort for activities in all weather
We will spend most of our time outdoors.
We are always adding to our outdoor environments to increase the comfort level.
We will provide frequent water play and misting activities for cooling.
COVID Policies First Semester 2022/2023
PREVENTION IS THE BEST TOOL WE HAVE. A NEW LEAF STRONGLY ENCOURAGES COVID-19 VACCINATION FOR EVERYONE ELIGIBLE.
If your child appears sick, or has a cough, sore throat or a fever of 100.4 F and higher they are to remain home and have a COVID test. If they test negative they may return to school once they are 24 hours fever and symptom free.
If your child presents with a fever or appears sick during the day you will be asked to come and pick them up immediately.
IN THE CASE OF A POSITIVE CASE AT SCHOOL
If a child tests positive for COVID they are to remain home for at least 5 days from their positive test. They may return after 5 days if they are symptom free. The child will be required to wear a mask at school for an additional 5 days.
We will inform the rest of the group and the group will immediately move outdoors and work outdoors as much as possible for 5 days from the last exposure. If there is a need to be indoors everyone will wear masks. During this period of time we will be even more vigilant about potential covid symptoms and any child with potential COVID symptoms will need to be picked up from school and have a COVID test.
IN THE CASE OF EXPOSURE
If a child is exposed to a known COVID case outside of the home they will need to get a COVID test in order to return.
If there is a positive case in the home and the affected person is able to be isolated from the rest of the household, the child may return to school if they test negative and will be required to wear a mask for 5 days and be tested again on day 5.
If there is a positive case in the home and the affected person is not able to be isolated from the rest of the household the child will not be allowed to return to school for 5 days. After 5 days the child may return with a negative COVID test but will be required to wear a mask for an additional 5 days and test again on day 5 from the last exposure.
