Pip & Pickles Farm Campus
4341 Pecan Valley Road, Nashville, TN, 37218
Welcome to the Pip and Pickles Farm!
Our farm is smaller than the arboretum, but we can do so much on this 10 acres classroom filled with learning opportunities.
School Year 2024-2025
On the farm, Magnolia students begin at age three to five in preschool. Our Persimmons are kindergartners, five and six years old, and the Sycamores are ages six, seven, and eight in first grade.
Special Features
Triangle Play families enjoy the caretaking of our goats and chickens and working in the garden. This program is a wonderful way for children to get familiar with us before joining our student body. Our animals are tame, friendly, and patient with farmers in training of all ages. Goatherding is a favorite activity.
Our older students participate in small groups to train our goats. All of our students enjoy chicken fishing and collecting eggs for the farmers market. Our vegetable and flower gardens provide fertile ground for many projects to evolve around life-cycles, and for the Farm Economics project where they learn to run a business from the ground up!
The varied landscape shapes many opportunities to learn through exploration. The students have developed a mining operation to make clay for our sculpting needs. They visit the pond and the creek on most days to study the the organisms from these wonderful ecosystems.
Physical education includes hiking to the forest on ropes courses, building forts, playing ball games on our field and court, and yoga.
Going to school on a farm campus is a truly special experience where academics are placed in meaningful practice every day!
The labs and studios provide opportunities for research for our projects and also for spontaneous inquiry. They are the Light Lab, the Library, the Kitchen, the Courts, the Sports Field, the Botany Lab, the Barns, the Exploratorium, and the Art Studio.
